Paper Trails: An Installation

Behind The Seams

13 October 2026

For Frieze London, Métier celebrates creative process and the life of a Métier bag with a new window installation at our Mayfair flagship.

Every Métier bag begins with an idea — and, before leather is cut, a miniature model is created from paper.

For Frieze London, Métier brings this usually unseen part of the design process to the windows of our Mayfair flagship, where paper artist Nathan Ward reimagines two of our classic silhouettes as life-size sculptures. Displayed on white paper plinths, the monochromatic installation evokes the atmosphere of an artist’s studio and the process of turning an idea into form.

Woven into the installation are six handwritten travel letters by Yolanda Edwards, founder of YOLO Journal, recounting journeys from Patmos to Nice, Oaxaca and beyond. Her words are patchworked across the paper sculptures, connecting the process of making with the places our bags go — and the stories they collect along the way.
