The Art of Weaving: Métier Cashmere

Behind The Seams

16 April 2021

Crafted in a storied mill in the hills of Tuscany, our cashmere throws are made from artisanal hand looms using ancient techniques that have been passed down for generations.

The looms themselves are made from the oak from nearby mountains and the weaving process combines traditional weaving techniques with modern technology. Through history to modernity, our Italian mill boasts an innovative craftsmanship that is one of a kind.

Our cashmere thread is sourced responsibly from the finest wool of Capra hircus goat, roaming on the plains of Inner Mongolia. Cold winters and equally harsh summers make the wool incredibly warm and soft. The farms where our cashmere is sourced are RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified, ensuring the welfare of animals and sustainable use of resources.

Founded by Anna Pedri to support local female artisans, our mill is now run by her children who are carrying out the same mission. Each cashmere throw has been passed through the hands of the craftswomen of Lucca and perfected using modern technology. Our thoughtful production keeps quantities limited and ensures there is no wasteful excess stock. We are excited to expand our use of traditional craftsmanship into weaving and proud to have Pedri's Italian mill as a partner. Discover our curated line of seasonless cashmere for home and away, available in three colourways and two sizes.
