Introducing Métier VACANZA
Extra! Extra!
08 July 2021
Our long-awaited summer capsule, Métier VACANZA, has finally reached the Métier shores. The capsule introduces The Market, a new women’s shape which comes in two sizes, an all day bag and a weekender. The Market is incredibly lightweight and comes with a detachable shoulder bag in an embroidered stripe fabric.
On the men’s side, we are excited to introduce two fabric options to the collection. The first is a navy canvas made from sustainable cotton and the second is a military twill fabric. Both are water-resistant, durable and seamlessly transition from beachside to city life.
To tie the capsule together, we created a collection of beach blankets in three colourways, with each one available in two sizes. The smaller size is a perfect beach towel or blanket for one, while the larger size is perfect for moments to share. Our backgammon in the capsule’s signature colour, Izamal Yellow, is the perfect added touch to bring the Vacanza spirit to life.
Design Notes
“The VACANZA capsule celebrates the spirit of travel and the excitement of summer adventure. After over a year inside, like so many of us, I longed to let loose and dream. I wanted to create a capsule that embodies the joy and lightness that only comes from never-ending summer days.
The moodboard is inspired by travel from California to Italy in the 1970s. I imagined icons like Farrah Fawcett packing up her skateboard and heading with friends to the Italian Riviera. I wanted the colour palette to embody life and joy while equally feeling timeless and sophisticated to reflect the discerning nature of the Métier world. Our Izamal Yellow, for example, is bright and fun, but also works as a neutral. It somehow goes with everything and I dare you not to feel happy when wearing it. I also wanted the colour palette to reflect an active spirit. After a year inside, taking care of our minds and bodies feels especially relevant so I wanted the collection to embody a timeless, sporty feel.
I am also incredibly excited to introduce new fabrics into the collection. Last September, I was able to visit an Italian mill in the Tuscan hilltown of Lucca and develop several new fabrics made from sustainable yarns. The embroidery in our beach blankets is exceptional, each is handwoven from oak looms made from wood found in the nearby hills.
I was fortunate enough to be able to return to Italy a few weeks ago to visit our team and took our newest bag, the Market Weekend, on the road with me. We visited suppliers throughout the country, starting in Lake Garda and continuing to Milan, Florence and Naples. I finished the trip with a weekend at Le Sirenuse where I visited owners and friends, Carla and Antonio Sersale. Although I am biased, I must say my Market Weekend was the perfect companion to take on the journey with me—from plane to car to Carla and Antonio’s boat on the last day of my trip.
As the world begins to reopen (knock on wood), I am renewed with an almost-childlike excitement to explore. I am so proud of this capsule and how it celebrates the joie de vivre that so many of us live for. I hope you love it too and so look forward to seeing you back on the road.”
